Oldhamii Bamboo

This is the classic bamboo—big, bold, and perfect for high screening or showcasing large, solid culms. Oldhamii Bamboo is a rapid grower that reaches impressive heights while maintaining a relatively compact footprint.
Its upright stance is complemented by dense, lush, dark green foliage.
In Melbourne, this large bamboo suits any suburban garden with space for medium-sized trees. Unlike trees, Oldhamii Bamboo can be thinned to fit a smaller area while still soaring to 10 meters.
For narrow beds, we recommend a width of at least 600mm with sturdy borders. Its fibrous roots won’t cause damage like tree roots, but its powerful new shoots demand caution due to the plant’s size.
