Locally grown, start to finish
Every plant is raised onsite. No third parties, no interstate freight. We trial every variety ourselves, selecting only those that handle Melbourne’s soil, sun, and seasons.
Built on growing experience
Before bamboo, we spent years in the cut flower industry. That background gave us a deep understanding of plant health, genetics and consistency, all of which now shape how we grow, select and care for bamboo.

What Began as Curiosity Became Victoria’s Leading Bamboo Nursery

The idea for Red Cloud Bamboo began in Melbourne’s Royal Botanic Gardens. A single walk through the bamboo grove sparked a fascination that turned into something much larger — a nursery dedicated to one of nature’s most calming and versatile plants.
We chose bamboo not just for how it looks, but for how it moves, grows, and transforms space. Over the years, we’ve trialled countless varieties on our 5-acre site in Heatherton. Some thrived. Others didn’t. What remains is a refined, proven collection of clumping bamboos selected for their suitability to Victoria.
Our name reflects that dual nature. Red represents structure and strength. Cloud represents softness and movement. That balance is what we aim to offer in every plant and every planting.
Today, we supply bamboo to home gardeners, landscapers, architects and developers across Victoria. From narrow fence lines to large boundary screens, we help customers choose the right variety and support them long after planting.
